What are the requirements to participate in the Cardiology Summer Academy?
- Students must be in 11th grade at Young Women's Leadership Charter School
- Students must be at a proficient or better academic standing
- Students must be able to commit to ALL scheduled activities of the program
Who should apply to the Cardiology Summer Academy?
Any 11th grade student from YWLCS who is:
- Interested and curious about science
- Considering majoring in science in college
- Considering a career in science
How do I apply for the Cardiology Summer Academy?
If you are interested in applying please complete this application. This application consists of
a student commitment form, parent support form, copy of academic transcript, and essay
question.
Applications are due on Friday, May 8, 2009 and must be submitted to Ms. Long (Room 306)
What is the process for selection?
Applications will be reviewed by selected members of YWLCS and Northwestern University. Following the review of applications 16 students will be invited to participate in the Cardiology Summer Academy.
How do CSA students get to the program events?
CSA students will have to arrange to take public transportation or a ride to and from the program events. Parking passes will NOT be provided. Each participant will receive a 1-week CTA pass to cover the cost of travel. For a map, please look at the CSA Forms page within the site.
What do CSA students need to wear to the program events?
CSA students need to wear business casual attire and lab coats everyday of the program. For the daily personal training sessions, the participants need to bring workout clothes and gym shoes.
What do CSA students need to bring with them to the program events?
CSA students need to bring the program binder, lab coat, heart model and workout clothes. You can download a checklist on the CSA Forms section.
